I've been meaning to start a blog for a while. The usual reasons apply: I think out loud, and writing forces clarity. But there's a more specific motivation that pushed me to finally set this up.
Most of what I work on — consumer culture, video games, affordances, the strange materiality of digital things — doesn't fit neatly into a tweet or a conference abstract. There's a lot of messy middle ground between "I'm reading something interesting" and "here is a published paper." This blog is for that middle ground.
What you'll find here
Expect a mix of:
- Notes on papers I'm reading and ideas they're sparking
- Reflections on the research process itself
- Occasional writing on games and technology aimed at a broader audience
- Updates on ongoing projects (in a less formal register than conference abstracts)
I'll write some posts in English, some in Portuguese — depending on who I imagine reading them. The language toggle at the top will let you switch between full translations when both exist.
A note on regularity
I'm not going to promise a posting schedule. Academic life is unpredictable, and performative productivity is something I try to resist. Posts will appear when they're ready.
That said — if you find something here useful or want to discuss it, reach out. The contact page has the details.
